Artist Appreciation: Andrew Bird
I am still relatively new to the works of this eclectic troubadour, but with each new song I hear, I gain more and more admiration for his crafty melodies, smart lyrics and theatrical vocal delivery. Today I am celebrating his tunes with my favorite track, Heretics. Also check out the video session from Blogotheque, and the session he recently did for Daytrotter, complete with MP3’s.

Peter And The Wolf: Cruising through Austin

The newest take away show has Red Hunter (A.K.A. Peter And The Wolf) along with Jad Fair and Sparrow House cruising around Austin Texas in search of adventure and good tunes. There are some in van performances, including the incendiary “Safe Travels”. Check it out.

Rivers Cuomo To Release Compilation Of Demos
The eccentric Weezer front man revealed recently that he will be releasing a compilation of his home demos ranging from the early 90’s through the present. He is also hard at work apparently writing a full length book!? Weezer is reportedly also in the studio working on a new LP set for release sometime next year. Read more from his blog HERE
Well I’m pretty stoked for it. I may have lost a lot of my die hard admiration for the band over the last couple albums, but the first two are good enough that i will never completely lose faith in them. Seeing as many of these tunes are being culled from around the time of those classic albums, we could have some great stuff on our hands.

Nirvana:Unplugged To Receive DVD Treatment
13 years later this is still hands down the most endearing Unplugged session MTV ever did. It has been available on VHS for years but the DVD has been surprisingly absent from release. Well the wait is over, the refurbished concert will include the full unedited performance complete with behind the scenes extras and some soundcheck tracks. The DVD will be released November 20th. Radiohead- In Rainbows: Lets Get Excited!!
So I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am fucking ready for this new album! If you aren’t, than you should be. So lets all take this oppertunity on the eve of the new album to set aside our busy schedules and acknowledge the massive chunk of awesomeness we are going to download tomorrow!
