Of Montreal: Get Funky,Do Ad For T Mobile,Defend Capitalism,Unleash Funk

This is the hub for the recent Of Montreal Media Blitz. They recently have created an ad for T Mobile, defended it, and discussed plans to get dark and funky on their next album, Skeletal Lampings. One thing’s for sure; these kids are crazy as hell, and I will follow them to the ends of the earth as long as they continue to get more and more insane.

Video Of The Day: PJ Harvey-The Piano (Live)

White Chalk is still going strong as one of my top ten albums of the year, and possibly my second favorite overall from Polly Jean. We shall see what happens once the end of the year rolls around. For now, check out a stunning live version of “The Piano”. For a full set of high quality streaming video performance, check out her SPINNER STUDIOS SESSION

Or if you feel so inclined her mildly disturbing NEW VIDEO

So this is a new feature I am going to have from time to time, where I take classic songs, and compare them to the best covers that have been made from them. Who will reign supreme? Well, thats for you to decide. Check them both out and see which you prefer. Lets start this off with the song, “I See A Darkness”. It was originally recorded by one of the great American songwriters, Will Oldham (A.K.A. Bonnie Prince Billy) off of his seminal record of the same name, and in 2000 was covered by another one of the greats, Johnny Cash on his album “American III: Solitary Man”. Truly one of the most hauntingly beautiful and timeless tunes to be written in the last couple decades. Check it out.

MP3 Of The Day: Ola Podrida-Photo Booth

The song for today is Photo Booth by Ola Podrida, and it has every component for a great timeless tune. Its one of those tunes where you hear it and it just has…it. A beautiful acoustic dirge that encapsulates the essence of driving outside the city limits and having a moment. When the backbeat kicks in I am helplessly devoted to the song until it is over. Also great for fueling late, coffe fueled nights studying for exams. Give it a spin and check out the video and see if you can withstand the awesomeness of this great single.
